Syntax Rush
the contest where your projects level up
Syntax Rush is a development contest organized by DevHub. The goal isn't to rush an artificial demo, but to showcase a real project, explain your choices, and receive useful feedback.
The Concept
Each participant can present a project they're already working on—whether small, ambitious, experimental, or nearly finished. The jury focuses on how the project is designed, structured, explained, and brought to completion.
How It Works
Present Your Project
The participant announces the project they want evaluated, including its goal, context, and what they want to showcase to the jury.
Finalize & Document
Before submission, each participant prepares a clean version: tidy code, clear instructions, explanations of technical choices, and key strengths.
Evaluation & Feedback
The judges assign a score, but more importantly, provide concrete feedback to help the project and its creator improve.
Scoring Criteria
Scores are given out of 20 per category, then combined for a final average. Rankings matter, but progress is the real goal.
Architecture
File organization, separation of concerns, overall readability, and project consistency.
Code Quality
Naming, clarity, maintainability, simplicity of solutions, and absence of unnecessary complexity.
Best Practices
Error handling, basic security, documentation, proper dependency usage, and predictable behavior.
Technical Complexity
Difficulty level, originality, automation, APIs, databases, algorithms, or service integrations.
Completion
Final state of the project, stability, ability to run, test, or present without manual explanations.
Presentation
Ability to explain what was done, why those choices were made, and what could be improved next.
